The Harry James Riddleston Charity has been in existence since the early 1970’s and was set up with the money Harry James Riddleston bequeathed to the Trust on his death. Born in Leicester in the late 1800’s, Harry James Riddleston was a self-made man who founded two successful businesses in Leicester. Having begun these businesses with very little initial capital, Harry Riddleston chose to assist future entrepreneurs by establishing a charitable trust to help young people start their own businesses.
Eligible candidates may borrow up to £10,000 interest free for between 5 and 10 years to start or expand their own business, or for vocational or educational advancement.
To be eligible for consideration for a loan you must be over 21 and under 35 (although applicants who are over 18 may be considered in special circumstances); candidates must reside in Leicestershire or Rutland, and conduct their business there, and must be able to demonstrate that the business has the potential to succeed. Candidates must also have a real need for the loan.
