Daniel’s love of aquatics started from a young
age when he successfully bred fi sh at home.
At 26 he saw a shop on Uppingham Road for
sale and could not let the opportunity pass him
by. After Daniel had set up the basics the Charity
helped him to buy stock, goods and advertising
space to get the company off the ground.
Now 2 years on, Daniel offers help, advice and
products to novice and specialist fish keepers
throughout the country.
Katherine fi rst rented the basement in her sister’s
gallery on Carts Lane to sell lifestyle items and
gifts. In 2003 she expanded into the rest of the
building. A loan from the Charity helped to add
phone lines, take over the lease and buy stock.
She now employs 4 staff selling delightfully crafty
gifts for babies, children, weddings and other
occasions plus home items and a wide range of
handmade cards. Katherine prides herself on
offering the hottest goods before they hit the big
stores. Now her website is allowing Katherine to
sell her imaginative gifts over the internet.
Mark had been working as a Dental Technician in the West Midlands, when at 33, he opened his own business in an empty workshop in Duxbury Road. The Charity helped Mark buy vital machinery to make dentures. Now 4 years later, Mark employs 10 staff, including apprentices, across 2 sites. With business support from his wife, Mark now makes and delivers dentures for around 40 surgeries across the county, as well as offering a postal service throughout the UK.
